News Details

An auto care shipment must arrive in a condition that allows the buyer to store, identify, and sell the products. Damaged containers, unclear carton marks, or incorrect counts can delay receiving and create extra work.

For importers and distributors, export packaging therefore belongs in the purchase specification. It should define how the goods travel from the filling line to the customer’s warehouse.

Melster supplies automotive care products for wholesale and OEM buyers. This guide explains which packing details to confirm before approving an order.

Start with the Finished Product

Packaging plans begin with the exact product version.

An aerosol can, a trigger bottle, and a can with an attached brush may need different carton arrangements. Similar net volumes do not guarantee matching dimensions or weights.

Confirm the formula reference, container, cap, dispensing parts, and label before approving the outer packaging.

For example, Melster’s published engine degreaser specification describes a 450ml aerosol and 24 units per export carton. Its universal foam cleaner also lists 24 units per carton.

Use these details as product references, then confirm the final packing specification in the quotation.

Convert Product Quantities into Carton Counts

Buyers and suppliers should use the same order units.

A request for “100 units” can mean individual containers or cartons unless the inquiry states this clearly. Write both the unit quantity and carton quantity on the purchase order.

For example, 2,400 units packed at 24 units per carton equal 100 cartons. This is a quantity calculation, not a minimum order requirement.

For orders containing several products, calculate each item separately. Also, confirm whether partial cartons are permitted and how they will be identified.

Clear counts make order checking and warehouse receiving easier.

Confirm Outer Dimensions and Gross Weight

Net content describes the product inside its container. Shipment planning requires more information.

Request the following for each item:

  • Units per carton

  • Outer carton length, width, and height

  • Gross weight per carton

  • Total carton count

  • Total shipment volume

  • Packing arrangement inside the carton

Ask for final figures if custom packaging changes the dimensions or weight.

A freight estimate based on an earlier carton design may no longer fit the approved order. Therefore, share the confirmed packing data with the shipping partner before final booking.

Review Protection Inside the Carton

The outer box is only one part of export packaging. Products also need suitable support inside it.

Ask how the packing arrangement limits movement and protects caps, triggers, and actuators. Review any dividers, trays, or other supports included in the design.

Check a packed sample where practical. Look for containers pressing against dispensing parts or moving freely inside unused space.

For aerosol products, ask the manufacturer which checks support the complete package. For liquid bottles, discuss closure security and leakage checks.

Approve the packing method together with the finished product.

Plan Pallets Around the Receiving Warehouse

Pallet requirements can differ between customers. A distributor using forklifts may have different needs from a business receiving loose cartons.

Before requesting pallet packing, share the warehouse’s accepted pallet size, load limits, and handling method.

Then confirm:

  • Cartons per layer

  • Number of layers

  • Total pallet height

  • Gross pallet weight

  • Load securing method

  • Placement of identification labels

Do not set a stacking height from appearance alone. The supplier and logistics partner should review the proposed arrangement for the selected cartons and route.

Also, confirm the complete packed dimensions when comparing shipping options.

Make Carton Marks Useful

Carton marks should help staff identify goods without opening every box.

Agree on a clear marking layout that includes the buyer’s required product reference, quantity, batch details, and carton number.

For private label orders, keep warehouse codes aligned with the approved artwork and packing list. Similar-looking products need distinct references.

If one shipment contains several batches, record which cartons contain each batch. This helps stock rotation and later investigation of any product concern.

Have the supplier confirm any additional handling or transport marks required for the shipment.

Check the Packing List Before Dispatch

Review the packing list against the purchase order before the goods leave the factory.

Check product names, item codes, unit counts, carton counts, and weights. If pallets are used, confirm their references and totals as well.

For orders containing several cleaners, keep each item on a separate line. A single total for “car care products” provides too little detail for receiving.

Ask for agreed packing photos before dispatch. Useful views show carton marks, the internal arrangement, and the secured load. Photos support checking but do not replace physical inspection.

Define Arrival Checks in Advance

A receiving plan helps the warehouse identify problems while shipment details are still easy to record.

On arrival, compare the delivery with the packing list. Check carton counts, visible damage, item identification, and batch information.

Photograph affected cartons and record their references before unpacking further. Keep damaged or questionable goods separate while the relevant parties assess them.

Agree with the supplier on the information needed for a claim. Clear records help distinguish a packing error, product issue, or transit damage.

Coordinate Export Packing with Melster

Guangzhou Melster Chemical Co., Ltd. was established in 1997 and develops, manufactures, and sells auto care products.

Its manufacturing profile describes mixing, filtration, filling, and packaging equipment. Buyers can discuss wholesale and OEM requirements alongside the selected product specification.

When requesting a quotation, provide the item quantities, destination, label needs, warehouse requirements, and preferred packing format.

Ask Melster to confirm carton details, available packing options, and the documents needed for shipment planning. This gives both sides a clear basis for production and dispatch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does 24 units per carton mean the MOQ is 24 units?

No. Carton quantity and minimum order quantity are separate terms. Confirm both in the quotation.

Can all auto care products share one carton size?

Not necessarily. Container shape, caps, and accessories may change the required packing arrangement.

Should importers request pallet packing?

Base the decision on the route, handling method, warehouse needs, and confirmed logistics costs.

What should buyers approve before dispatch?

Approve the product references, quantities, carton specification, markings, packing list, and any agreed pallet arrangement.
